Audio Lag on Laptop with Bluetooth Headphones

Hi,

i have a problem that is driving me nuts.

For catching ideas on the road i use a Lenovo Yoga, Cubase 15 Pro and Melomania Headphones paired to the laptop via Bluetooth.

I cannot get this setup to run smoothly and i dont know why.

Even the simplest of project does not work:

Fresh project, one Retrologue track with initial preset and a metronome.

The metronome is playing nice and consistent, but the sound from the Retrologue is lagging and the key hit is shifting all over the place. So sometimes the key hit is on the metronome, sometimes not.

Does anyone has an idea how to get this going?

I have ASIO Guard on, tried different preload settings, 32/64 bit, different sample rates, laptop is plugged in and energy settings are in performance mode.

what kind of ASIO driver do you use and what’s your buffer settings?

What is your actual audio interface? The bluetooth headphones?:thinking:

You can’t use Bluetooth headphones and not get high latency. Bluetooth has inherent latency.

I am ok with latency, but it seems to be instrument related because the audio from the metronome is correct and the audio from the instrument has kinda jitter in relation to the metronome.

I use the Steinberg integrated ASIO.

Last night I figured out something interesting:

When I start Cubase and open a project or create a new one I have the behaviour with the audio lag/jitter.

I activated “release audio driver in background” and when the audio in Cubase jitters I switch to chrome and watch a YouTube video and then switch back to Cubase and audio works fine.

Every time Cubase starts to jitter with audio (which can take some time and I don’t know what triggers it) I watch YouTube and switch back and sound is fine again.

I suspect some kind of audio driver/performance problems because Cubase releasing the driver and claim it back seems to solve it for a while
