I used it in my last session and had no problems, now its all greyed out in to drop down menu under “audio”

Hi,
can you provide more context and a screenshot, please?
Feeling a bit psychic today.
Based on the exceedingly limited info provided, I’m guessing that you have inadvertently converted your Audio Event(s) into an Audio Part.
LOL - that makes sense now that I read it…

Hi,
@Raino’s crystal ball was spot on.
You have accidently created an audio part which serve as a container for one or more audio events. You can tell by the extra frame around the part.
If you want to get your hands on separate audio events within the part you can do so by selecting the part > Audio/Dissolve Part.
Now you can apply fades as usual to the audio event.
Here’s more information:
Hi,
Or you can select the Audio Part and go for the Bounce Selection, if you want to keep it as one object.
ok neither one is working for me, still no fade menu.
In your screenshot the Selected item is indeed an Audio Part - you can tell by the little frame around it. If you double+click on it the Part Editor should open and give you direct access to the Audio Event(s) inside it.
Both of @Martin.Jirsak ‘s suggestions should work. Can you post a screenshot of what the item looks like after you have Dissolved the Part.
I don’t know if this is even possible, but maybe you created an Audio Part out of another Audio Part instead of an Audio Event - sort of like putting a box with something in it into another box.
I can send a screen shot but it looks exactly the same as before.
I’m not a novice to Cubase, been with them from the beginning, however I’m in a bit of a learning curve after missing several versions.
After I dissolved the part it gave options to fade but the fade editor was still greyed out in the middle section. When I chose the popup box with curves to choose from it just was non functioning.
I did both of the methods y’all suggested and just closed it out without saving so i could try both. After doing so neither method worked and it still is just not there.
I’m flummoxed.
In your screenshot the item you show is an Audio Part & not an Audio Event. The menu selection Dissolve Part would be greyed out if it wasn’t a Part. Your issue exists because you are using Parts & not Events. You seem to have a problem converting it back into an Event, but based on your description it’s difficult to tell exactly what you are doing incorrectly.
Try this
Thank you for all your help.
I understand exactly what you’re saying.
This “events, parts” thing is very new to me from my previous versions of cubase and apparently part of the evolution of the program. The reason for for creating the 2 is clear as mud but ok, I’ll figure it out eventually.
Tbh it’s just not that important right now for producing the drum track. It’s not easy jumping back into cubase after such a long absence.
Just an afterthought; for us fossils that came up with analog in studios it would be logical to me to go to the same lengths of options for those of us that still record in cubase like it was tape. That process for me goes for midi too, building dynamics from beginning of the piece to the end. The flow is very important to me and man, right now the flow is a puddle of muck! ![]()

An update. Turns out the simple things are often overlooked.
Finally found the audio functions IE; “Fade” will show in the drop down menu only if you choose the entire track that contains the (part, event, etc), choose the range or clip you want to edit, then all processing options are available.
Hope this helps, btw i found in the manual. Flow restored!
