Hi! Is there a way to always mute previous/top clips? I mean, I remember that bottom most clips were the clips that were unmuted. Did something change?
So that I understand this issue…you have recorded multiple takes on the same track and are looking to comp them. If you open the ‘show lanes’ icon on the track, all the takes will be shown on lanes and yes, that top lane should be muted. Are these takes recorded on the same track? Are you using the ‘show lanes’ tab? Not much info.
No. I am using the Audio Part Editor (I mentioned this in the thread title).
No. But if these takes were, would it make any difference? I mean, I really don’t understand what’s the point of lanes (in the Audio Part Editor, or in the Project Window), if you you can’t move a clip in front of another clip (by nudging it up or down).
Audio Part Editor…didn’t pick up on that…sorry.
So now I think I understand it…maybe. You have recorded a number of tracks individually, so the audio tracks have no association with each other (doesn’t matter if you recorded the same thing of each track); they are independent files which means that any edit done in the audio editor won’t affect any other track…even if you edited in the project page. The purpose (one of many) of lanes is that they do have an association with all the lanes on that track; so if you choose lane 3, then all other lanes are muted. If you’re recording on separate tracks, then after the audio edit, you will have to mute those parts on the other tracks.
I always record all takes on one track, even if I want several of the takes. For instance, when I’m tracking guitars, I’ll play different parts with each loop of the recording. I then select that track, right mouse click on it and select ‘make tracks from lanes’. This gives me all of them as individual tracks and are no longer associated with each other. This is useful when working alone. But for comping a vocal, the lanes are much more efficient. If I need to bring the file into the audio editor, I do it after I’ve comped it. Hope this addressed your issue.
Yeah, but it would be so much useful if I could visually bring one clip on top of another clip by nudging or draggin it up/down. Not the end of the world… Thanks!
