@Louis_R Thank you.
I had an unsolvable issue with my ASIO driver that was visible in the menues, but would not load in among the choices, using Cubase Pro 12 on Windows 10. Then I found two Realtec drivers for the same devices, one with the digit ā1ā in the end. I deleted it, and everything worked fine. For some odd reason the same device driver may occur more than once in an OS, and the application making use of them is confused, not knowing which one to engage, ending up engaging neither of them, and then the device is not connected to the application in question. This time it was NOT a Cubase issue, I found out, after having spent hours to find a solution to the problem.

thanks so much for this!
just switched to Cubase from Cakewalk and after finally getting used to it, my one big gripe with Cubase has been that I couldnāt seem to do simple things without access to the shared Wasapi like have audio running in through from my SP404ās usb and then running out to my Behringer mixer (that is my main interface) or quickly switch my audio out from the mixer to my gpuās hdmi out to my tv etc. without taking a few minutes to actually switcht them on/off and then rerouting the output settings and such.
This has solved all my issues, thanks again!!
*edit, while the other issues are solved, now i canāt seem to hear windows audio while cubase is using the driver. If Cubase is open the driver is unavailable to windows, and if iām using windows audio like watching a youtube video then the driver will be unavailable to Cubase. all set to 16-bit 48khz, all potential ins and outs have exclusivity turned off. asio4all
any way to fix?
ASIO4all is not multi client.
VB Audio Matrix/Coconut is another third party ASIO wrapper that I think will work multi client but itās a little more complex to get set up.
ah gotcha, the op recommended asio4all in the part talking about multi-client so i assumed itād work
i ended up just running the output from my reciever that the pc usually runs to as my entertainment center into the mixer with all the music stuff that goes to the monitors. now nothingās fighting and i can route windows sounds into cubase if needed, so that works.
just need to swap output settings whenever i want to use cubase from my entertainment center seat/speakers. eventually iāll switch to a proper interface and get things set up more optimally.
thanks!
Ohā¦he does say ASIO4all is ānowā multi-clientā¦it certainly didnāt used to beā¦and I donāt really find any other info that backs this up anywhere either, but of course that doesnāt necessarily mean it isnāt, maybe the info just isnāt easily found.
Hi everyone, Iām back to Cubase after three years interruption and annoyingly feel that Iām discovering everything againā¦I had a sound problem too, though not quite the same. I can hear Cubase (14pro) through my loudspeakers (soundcard is M-Audio Air 192/14) but oddly enough, canāt hear a thing through my headphones when I plug them in the M-Audio. But I do hear youtube tutorialsā¦ Iāve read the guide as well and my set up is exactly as it says it should be, did anyone run into the same issue and found the problem?
The M-Audio doesnāt have independent access to the headphones so whatever you hear on speakers you should hear on headphones too.
Be sure to turn the usb/direct knob to usb as thatās the only thing I can think of that would mute DAW sound to headphones.
That moment when you realise the answer was right in front of your eyes, by just pushing a knobā¦ Thanks mate, itās all good now!
