Audio won't import with video

Hi there,

I’m currently trying out the trial versions of Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Elements 7.

When I import a video file, the audio does not come in with it in either bit of software. The video will play fine in both but the audio is not coming in on a separate audio track.

I have checked Preferences > Video and the “Extract Audio on Import Video File” box is checked.
I have also tried extracting the audio manually within the Pool and that doesn’t seem to do anything either.

The strange thing is that I have imported the same video in my Cubase SX3 and the audio is imported as well on a separate track as it should be!

Does anyone have any ideas?

SX could use direct show/windows video…all versions now use quicktime only so this is probably why it works in one but not the other.
You’ll likely have to find a format of video that will work with Cubase rather than expecting it to work with what you have…other than this you can try updating quicktime but I doubt this will be the issue.
