Auditioning mic'd audio sounds doubled

Hello,
Im new to recording direct audio and when I’m auditioning audio live from a mic to test levels before recording, it sounds doubled. However when im recording and play it back it sounds normal… not doubled. Any help? Thanks! :mrgreen:

Cubase 7.5 latest release
intel i7 cpu
10 gigs ram

Sounds like you have software monitoring and direct monitoring both on…

Thanks. I never got an email alert to your response. I can only find direct monitoring in cubase. Is software monitoring somewhat the same? I haven’ been able to find anything through my research.
