Hi, I have Cubase 14 Pro and auto save is on but I don’t get / see the (.bak) backupfiles anymore in the map where I made the project like usual. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Harald
Sub folder?
Yes!! Thank you! (There is now a subfolder with the auto saves…)
Yes… I was wondering also. Thanks!
Mine doesn’t seem to be saving at the 15 minute interval as in settings, more like every 3 hours, lost almost 2 hours of work, accidentally clicked don’t save on exit, no backup.
Hi,
please make sure you are looking at the correct autosave folder. Check the time stamp, please.
What is the maximum number of bak files in your settings? If it is set to a low number older baks will be overwritten and the latest bak files will only document recent changes (bak files are only created if you change anything at all).
For test reasons, you could set the interval to 0.5 minutes (hit apply in your settings window) and literally watch bak files to be created. This way you can be sure that everything works as expected (or not).
It has happened to me too. I hit ctrl+S constantly when working. I have noticed Auto save not working on certain occasions so what I do is change the time to 1 minute, work for about 5 minutes and check to see if the auto save folder is populating again. Once I see it works I turn it back to 15 minutes and it usually fixes the issue. But it definitely is a bug and I’ve seen it several times.
Hi @Wickham_Sky ,
constantly hitting Ctrl + S will not prevent any bak files (which have been created so far) from being back in the override cycle. Depending on the maximum number of bak files in your settings you will only keep the latest bak files from your previous session.
Maybe it’s not a bug after all - just throwing in this possibility. Unfortunatly, the documentation does not provide details when it comes to bak files and how they are supposed to work. I had to test a lot to find out, too.
