"auto-select events under cursor" doesn't work

When selecting “auto-select events under cursor” in preferences in a project, upon selecting “apply” or “ok”, there is no change in cursor behaviour; i.e, events are not selected when beneath cursor. This occurs even after restarting cubase.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open project which does not already have “auto-select etc.” specified.
  2. Open preferences; check “auto-slelct etc.”. Select “apply” or “ok”.
  3. Either - a) go to project window, note absence of any “auto-selection”; or b) close project, reopen, go to project window, note absence of any “auto-selection”.

This is on CP8.05, Win & 64, i3770, 16gigs, radeon HD7770. Thx!

Same behavior on Cubase 8.0.10 Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Unable to reproduce here. Works as expected.

If it was called “auto-select events under playhead” then it would be considered working. However, what the preference does not do is auto-select under the actual cursor, as in the mouse cursor. The playhead is not a cursor and the preference should either be renamed, or better yet actually have events be auto-selected under the cursor instead of the playback head.

In Cubase the Playhead is called the project cursor.

When the cursor passes the start position of the event, that’s when it gets selected, whether you do it by dragging the project cursor, or if it happens during playback.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Steve.
