Hey gang,
Does anyone know if there is a setting for autocues where Dorico will suggest spots for cues and add them in? Or, do we have to put them in manually by choosing the cued instruments?

Wonderful! Thank you!

Thanks for this, I’m sure many will find this helpful. However, I’m still not getting any results with cue suggestions with my Percussion part. I’m in Galley view, I have my part open and I’ve tried clicking on a range of music for cue suggestions. Nothing shows, no matter what I try. Could I have something hidden or turned off perhaps? By the way, this is all one perc player, not full score.
I will provide a bit more info. What I can do, is insert cues manually by pressing Shift+U. This gets this result. See bassoon and horn. However, when I scan the part for suggestions, it will only highlight (in red) a beat or two before the percussion entrance and not suggest cues in a specific area much earlier in the work where needed. I am also curious if I could just have text of the cues shown, like Ob/Flt or Hrns. instead of the notation? Again, This is one player galley view, percussion part.
Before asking for automatic suggestions, have you selected the measures where you want the cue to appear?
Thanks Derrek. Yes, I selected a range, nothing happened . There were over 80 measures and approximately 6 rehearsal letters preceding first entrance. I feel there may be a bug?

What happens if you do it in Full Score?
You might find it easier to add cues in a layout where multi-bar rests are either permanently or temporarily disabled, so you can more easily select individual empty bars for the purpose of specifying the desired span of the cue you are about to input.
Thanks Lillie, are you suggesting this because this is probably why I’m not getting a single cue suggestion for my work because of all the multi bar rests from rehearsal mark to rehearsal mark? I was under the impression that Dorico could still provide cue suggestions while one had their layout intact. Turning off the multi meter rest kinda makes it even harder to visualize one’s music laid out. Does this make sense?
Trying to avoid another work around.

If you want to add a cue in 2 bars of a 4-bar multi-bar rest, then yes you need to disable multi-bar rests or work in a layout without multi-bar rests. Because if you select the multi-bar rest, Dorico cannot know what you intend to select within that one item ![]()
Thanks all. I was initially asking because (if my memory servers me well) Sibelius had a way of figuring out smart cues and actually putting them in for you.
Otherwise, we are good to move on.
