Automatic Lyric Syllabification When Pasting Text

In Sibelius, you can copy the lyrics of an entire song (or just a section) and paste them directly into the score as lyric syllables. Sibelius automatically splits the text into syllables, and overall it works quite well.

Dorico, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have this automatic syllabification. Even more problematic, trailing spaces at the end of a line are treated as lyric syllables. That means you have to be extremely careful that there are no unintended spaces in the text.

Why is Dorico so much less “intelligent” or helpful in this respect? Or is there a better workflow for importing or transferring lyrics that I’m missing?

It’s true that Dorico does not have auto-hyphenation built in. So you either have to do that by hand or use an external tool like this one. However, once you have your hyphenated block of text, you can in fact copy the whole thing to the clipboard, select the first note, open the Shift-L popover and paste-paste-paste syllable by syllable, using Space for melismas.
