Automatically enable Constrain Delay Compensation when record enabling a track

Firstly, is there any way to do this using the project logical editor?

But assuming there isn’t, this might be a useful preference setting.

Basically, as the title says, when you record-enable any track, CDC switches on. It switches off when no tracks are record enabled.

I suppose there is the possibility of a second variant where it is enabled when the project goes into record. But from my experience, latency also affects rewind etc, so I am not sure that would be that useful.

It´d be a useful setting.

At the moment I use a button in Touch Portal (basically a key command) that enables/disables monitor+ CDC together, and it stays enabled during recording too.

Hi,
pretty much what @diegoalejo15 said: you can put both Record Enable & CDC into a regular macro and assign a key command to that macro. No need for external controllers.

That kind of works (I just put a macro together), but the problem is that if you have, say, three tracks record enabled, and you use the macro to disable one of them, it turns the CDC off.

This needs to be a bit cleverer I think, so that while any track is record enabled CDC is turned on. It only turns off if no tracks are record enabled. This is just to speed up workflow a touch.

I play around with macros quite a lot. Many of my edit ones end with enabling pre-roll, start, disable pre-roll. So for instance, I have one set to lower the audio level dramatically to sort out a heavy breath. Select with the range tool, then one button and it lowers the level, finds the start of the selection, rewinds whatever length pre-roll I am using, and goes into play. It isn’t a massive time saver, but with lots of these small ways to improve workflow, I have sped up editing so much.

Okay, I see. Unfortunatly, I don’t see a way how this can be done with PLE.

I’m with you. An option to automatically enable/disable CDC whenever record and/or monitor is enabled would definetly be a useful addition to the preference settings. :+1:

Don’t forget to leave a vote above.

Unfortunatly, I have already spent all of mine.

No Brainer should be routine option, no question.
