Automation in tracks instead of clips

How are you guys going about automating plug-in parameters over multiple clips in a montage? I can only enable plug-in parameter automation on individual clips, and not on a track, where I need it.

For example, I would like to have a limiter inserted on a Montage track, and use plug-in automation to automate its threshold. I would think that this is a very common task, but the only way I can do it is to insert the same plugin on every clip, which isn’t efficient, instead of inserting once on a track. I must be missing something very obvious. Any ideas?

WaveLab is clip-oriented. While inserting the same plugin on every clip is not as efficient as only once, this is not a problem either.
Automation on a track would complexity the UI (yet another curve on top), and is never a good choice as soon as you start moving clips around.

Thanks for your reply PG1. Both Pro Tools and Logic have preferences for “Automation moves with clip”, and I haven’t had problems with this functionality since this feature was introduced more than a decade ago in those platforms, so I wonder why you say it “is never a good choice once you start moving clips around.”

I appreciate the power of Wavelab being clip-oriented. The introduction a few years ago of clip-effects in Pro Tools was a huge time-saver. But the lack of track based effects automation in Wavelab is disappointing and surprising… although I will say that I should withhold criticism until I explore WL workflows more and attempt to find out why you say “this is not a problem either”.

Hi
for me should track automation be a huge time saver.
I would very much appreciate it if this possibility could be implemented
