Hi guys I’m trying to understand automation in its various modes: latch, cross-over and touch. Does any if these affect the way the “curve” is drawn? And what about the new Virgin territory. What does that do?

Other than reading the manual on how Automation works, the best way to learn it, I found, is by using it.
Set up an eight bar loop and then try automating various things and observe what happens. Make sure you have the Write (W) enabled and Read (R) enabled on playback. Note, one thing that is cool is that the your automation lines will pick up the same color as the automation tracks.
Diving in and using it is the best way to learn it – other than reading the manual. Use the Automation Panel, too. It’s very helpful. Good luck.
