I’ve just bought the latest Autotune. I put it on a track as an insert and record a half a scale of sung notes, it’s doing its thing visually but the recording isn’t tuned. If I run Variaudio on it straight after the recording the pitch correction shifts everything a quarter of a note.
If I record the same phrase with no autotune it’s exactly the same when I run it through Variaudio, Autotune is doing nothing.
When I watch Fil on Wings of Pegasus he shows live autotuned vocals and they are glued to the correct pitch. Am I using it wrong?
Right, been messing around this morning. So it’s tuning what I’m hearing but it’s not tuning what’s being recorded. I sing, it tunes the output to the phones but cubase records my actual, untuned vocal.
So how do I record what I’m hearing on the phones once I’ve set the parameters? And if this is how it’s done I think it would probably have been best to just post process the vocal tracks with Melodyne Studio which I already have! Think I’ve wasted my money!
All I’m trying to achieve is to have a tuned vocal performance so the person who is going to put the actual vocal down can hear the lyrics and melody. I bought Autotune because I thought it would let Cubase record straight down the tuned version while I sing it. It wouldn’t matter about any Autotune style artifacts because it would only be a guide.
Can it do that or have I made one of my usual, costly cock ups?
