It says “compl E mentary”, which is a totally different word. Hard to see in the app, I know.
To me this is simple. I know Steinberg is a German company, and unlike what Star Trek would have us believe, not everyone in the universe speaks either American or British English.
So some misinterpretations can be forgiven, but at the same time, they are one of the giants in the business and they have a lot of customers in the US. So it’s not a crazy expectation that they will check all their marketing materials to make sure that they’re not just a literal translation. That’s why the United Nations doesn’t have plain translators but instead interpreters.
And Steinberg generally does a really good job at either translating or writing in English all the marketing, support content like online help and manuals and so on, the fact is that nobody in the US or Canada says “complementary” when referring to products that complement, as in, go well with a specific program. In fact, let’s be honest, we Americans are terrible at spelling, and don’t tell me it isn’t so when I’ve been reading atrocities like “you’re” when it’s supposed to be “your” and viceversa, and the same for “it’s” instead of “its” and lots more, that are not just present in chats or forums or text messages, but in actual published news articles.
So when we can’t even spell correctly the most basic stuff there is, you can’t expect most customers in this country to actually know the difference between “complementary” and “complimentary”. But again, I never heard or read “complementary” used in this manner, meaning that this X product goes well with that other product. If anyone has, please feel free to comment.

Their use of the term ‘complementary’ in this context is quite appropriate and does not imply that additional products are part of, or included with, the main product (Nuendo, in this case). It just means that they expand or improve the functionality in some way by integration or added features.
