Bar number enclosure

In Paragraph Styles I set my bar numbers to not have enclosures (see screenshot: border is not selected). However, I still have boxes around my bar numbers. What’s happening? I can’t find anything about this in Dorico Help.

On your screenshot, at the left top, Bar numbers (parts). Is that setting relevant?

Probably a stupid question but are you meaning to edit the Part font or the Score font?

Thanks for the reminder, but I’ve checked and double-checked several times. I’m looking at the score, wanting to change the setting on the score and score is selected in the setting I’m changing. So it does not seem that I’m adjusting the wrong setting.

There is also an Engraving Option.

Steven, isn’t this option for Rehearsal Marks (and not Bar Numbers)?

Yes.
I posted this in case the OP was using rehearsal marks to show bar numbers rather than letters.

Yes I thought the same :slight_smile:

@StevenJones01 , @k_b
Yes, this option is for rehearsal marks, but I’m not using rehearsal marks for my bar numbers. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Can you please upload your project with just a few bars of music.

@DanielMuzMurray
Sure! It’s actually just a blank piano score template that I want to make and have handy for use in the future.

Paul’s Piano Template.dorico (697.2 KB)

Layout Options > Bar Numbers > Appearance > Enclosure Type > None

@DanielMuzMurray
Ah, yes. That’s what I was missing. Thanks, Daniel!

This shows: uploading a project gets a solution in under 30 minutes! That’s definitely the best strategy :slight_smile:

It would have been less but I had to focus on the end of a West Wing episode.

For what it’s worth, when users post issues like this (with a project attached), if I don’t already know the answer then I will open the Library Manager and compare all the settings to the Factory ones. It doesn’t take long to weed out the culprit.

Nice house you must have :wink:
