A very strange thing I noticed this morning:
I put a 3/4 meter into the stream - and bar numbers go out of synch:
Before inputting the meter it looks fine:
Corelli_La Follia - until Variation 15.dorico (1.3 MB)
… it must have to do with my weird construction of the previous Variation 13.
Also I notice that the following time signature of Variation 15 looks like two explicit ones for each staff.
Interesting: after cutting down the project to upload it here, the bar numbers and the system track are completely invisible in Galley view…
I’m pretty flummoxed, honestly.
You can sort of get a satisfactory result by deleting everything resembling a time signature or a double barline at the start of Variation 13, then adding back the double barline, then adding a global C time signature, then adding a 12/8 independent meter to the top staff (no need for a pickup), then adding and hiding a new C meter to the next measure, then adding a bar number change to continue primary bar numbers at the start of Variation 13, but I’m not sure why exactly the bar number change is necessary if no pickup bar is present.
I have a sneaking suspicion you may at some point have clicked on one of the “Used In This Flow” time signatures in the right panel. This is a really bad idea if you’ve used independent meters or less-than-full bars (e.g. a 12/8 bar that only contains 8 eighths/quavers), as this hackery is baked into the time signature.
Hopefully someone from the development team can take a look.
Interesting, I never use the panel for time signatures.
At first I started Variation 13 in C Time Signature both staves and tripletised quavers…
Then thought “I give Corelli’s original a try“. I inserted a couple of bars after variation 13 (because I am not too familiar with the stop line). Then added a Stop Line right after the inserted bars at the beginning of Variation 14. I engaged Input mode and got rid of the triplets; the notes were spanning further to the front, thanks to my extra added bars…
Then input the independent 12/8 into the top stave, noticed the bar lines were not lining up even after “re-tripletising“ the quavers. Thats when I came up with the idea of the upbeat. It worked! But afterwards I had the weird behaviour as described in my initial post. I also put in the independent C Time Signatur into the bottom staff (which was probably not necessary). Then I came up with the idea to correct the bar number at the beginning of variation 13 - as it showed as 192 being an upbeat. That corrected some of the issues.
