Bass clef in a grand staff?

How to delete the bass clef in a grand staff?

Do you want to get rid of the whole staff, or just the clef?

Just the bass clef. As it turns out, I do not need the bass clef for this piano part.

So you want a grand staff with a treble clef on the top staff and no clef on the bottom staff? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.

If you want a piano part that only has the treble staff, you can do that by right-clicking on the bass staff in Write mode and choosing Staff > Remove Staff. Or you can go to Setup mode, expand the player card for the piano player, click on the three dots next to the piano instrument, and choose Edit Instrument Definition. Then you can scroll down and set Number of Staves to 1.

(Using Remove Staff will keep a small curly brace next to the treble staff. Using Number of Staves will not.)

Correct!

What does that mean? How should the piano player interpret notes on the bottom staff if it has no clef?

WOW! Thank you so much. I work on a mac OS and I just learned about the “right click.”

Thank you asherber

I’ve actually done something like this for educational purposes

Well, if that’s what’s wanted, you can get it by selecting the first note or rest in the bottom staff, opening the clefs popover with Shift+C, typing invisible and hitting Enter.

Now I am trying to remember why I had to do it! was a while ago, did not have a time sig, just the stave underneath.
