BBCSO Discover in Dorico 6 Pro

Hi everyone, first apollogize for my poof english.

I just switch to dorico from finale, but I got a major problem, that is, eveytime when I restart my laptop, my Dorico 6 pro can’t find the BBCSO vst, although the problem can be fix when I repair it in Spitfire Audio, it can be find again, but it is quite annoying that I have to do this process everytime when I restart my laptop.

can someone help me or give me some advice to fix it? I use HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb079tx for 8 years I think, I don’t know if the problem is that the computer is too old or something else.

If the VST is properly installed in your system, then it should be visible to Dorico. I have used the BBCSO vst without problem.

Do you have any other apps that use VSTs, where you can see if BBCSO is found there, too? (Even Finale!)

are you saying that the vst3 file is not present on your computer (under C:\program files\common files) or that Dorico is unable to find it. If the latter does it work with any other software you might have installed?

The Sptifire Audio app I find rather buggy with the BBC SO. It says that Core is not installed on my system yet it actually works perfectly. The issue may be something to do with the fact I have Discover registered but not installed. But the first thing to establish is if the issue is purely with Dorico. Probably not a computer age issue as Discover doesn’t require much in the way of resources.

PS fairly similar questions to @benwiggy who posted about 5 seconds before me.

Is the library installed on your internal hard drive or on an external SSD which you sometimes eject? I have some Spitfire libraries on an external drive and I have to repair them in their installation app nearly every time I reconnect the SSD.

I had my dorico and the vst install in different drive, is that might be the main problem? dorico is in the ssd and vst in the hhd, cause my ssd is not big enough, so I install the bbcso in hdd, but the vst3 file is in the ssd.

the vst3 file should ideally be in the default system location together with Dorico which sounds like what you have. The actual BBCSO library files can be wherever you like but of course the Spitfire App will need to be told where the library is – make sure the Default Content Path in its Settings actually points to where your library is. My own libraries are sometimes on a different drive as well but not the vst file.
