Beam grouping in 4/4

In a piece in 4/4 I want to have one part, where the beam grouping of eight notes is 4+4 and one part, where the beam grouping is 2+2+2+2.

I played around with different entry methods in the popover (always using Alt + Return for only one staff). I managed to get 3+1 and 1+3, but I can only achieve either 4+4 or 2+2+2+2 depending on the options I choose in the notation options.

Any suggestion other than to do it manually?

I find I have the expected behavior for [2+2]/4 and [1+1+1+1]/4 time signatures when I select the right option, in Notation Options | Beam Grouping | eighth notes in simple time signature : Break beams at beat boundaries.

Hope it helps !

Thanks Marc, that works!
It doesn’t feel right to me, when I express my expllict will in writing “1+1+1+1/4” into the popover (sorry, if this is bad English …), but it get’s overruled by the notations options. For me this is similar to e.g. writing “cresc.” and getting a hairpin like it used to be the case in the dynamics popover.
