Besides Features Live v Studio Desk are now the same

We’re apporoaching 40 years of Digital Technology in recording gear. Where there used to be a big difference in the sound quality of a Live desk as compared with a Studio desk, it seems to me that they’ve pretty much disolved into the center. Both cattegories seem to start with excellent S/N ratios and run at 96K effortlessly.

As such, I’m wondering how many of you still differentiate between the 2. Would you use an A&H SQ7, Presonus Studio Live, Yamaha DM7 or a Midas desk as a studio desk or would you insist that it be studio specific, ie: DM2K, Tascam DM48, SSL X-Desk, etc.?

DM2000 and Tascam DM48 were end of life some years ago.
And X-Desk is analogue.

I know some folks using the SQ, QU, QL or X/M32 as both successfully, live desks for gigs and rehearsal and recording in the studio.
SQ, QU and X/M32 can control the DAW (transport and faders), btw.

Yeah, I know that they’re EOL. I was just pointing out those models because of price point. API, NEVE, SSL desks are an entirely different animal, especially when considering afordability. That’s pretty much the point. I’ve got an SQ6 that I’m using as my audio interface. But I could use it as my primary desk for my room if I wanted. An API 1608 would be cost prohibitive if I wanted a real studio desk. Hence my question. I wanted to know how many reached the same conclusion.
