Best way to edit imported audio to create one shot samples map

I have had some success creating my own instruments by mapping one shot samples. I would like to import audio from old recordings and extract samples which I would then isolate and map across my keyboard. I own halion 7, kontakt 7 and avenger 2 which can all do the keyboard mapping. I would like to know what people prefer to use for the sample editing - the sample track, halion, groove agent or something else? Tx

If your source Audio is a series of ‘hits’ where you want to put the Sample for each hit on different MIDI Notes, then the Sampler Track makes this super easy. Not at Cubase so some terminology might be off.

You can set the Sampler Track to a slice mode. It will automatically find & set hitpoints which you can move, add or delete as needed. Each slice gets assigned to the next MIDI Note Number. When you are done fine tuning the timing, there is an icon you can drag out onto the Track. This will create a MIDI Part with all the Notes placed to recreate the original Audio.

Also you can export the whole thing into Groove Agent or Halion if you want to further manipulate the sounds.

Perfect. That’s exactly what I want to do. Thanks!
