Best way to route guitar for different parts using plugins?

So I’ve been using this for a few days, I’ve read a fair bit of the manual and looked at some forum threads but I’m struggling to understand it.

Lets say you have three sounds (vst3s), and you want them different parts of your songs, lets call them Fender, Marshall and Ambient. You have ten songs, each with 5 parts. You can make 3 stacks then add the stack you want to each part. This would be 50 plugins, but only one open a time, it works well and is kind of cool. However it seems inefficient because if you want to make a change - lets say to the Fender - you’ll have to change every single one, like 20 or so because as I can tell the plugins are all separate. Not the end of the world, but is this the best way?

There’s also Global Stacks, which may be more what I’m looking for? 3 global stacks, 3 different sounds, and then have a way to route audio relative to each part to the respective Global Stack. Would that be better? However I have no idea how to do this.

If you could route a stack to a global stack that would be the solution and would be v cool but there is no option for routing this way, just output and song name. Any help would be great sorry I don’t know more but it’s really hard to find any info anywhere and there are no tutorials on YouTube, not an audio at least, there’s a couple on midi and layers and lights etc.

What about adding a 3 outs with inserts to the mixer and mute the ones you don’t want? Outs are common to all Songs in the Project.

Or you could have 3 inserts in the same Out and mute them as appropriate.

Have a look at Actions and Shortcuts in the Channels section.

If I understand it right I kind of have the same “setup”.

Initial I created virtual buses (Devices → Connections) named “to Bus 1+2” as Output and “from Bus 1+2” as Input.
In the Song I have created a Output Channel with Out to “to Bus 1+2” (this Output can be selected in the next step.

I have global Stacks for my guitar sounds, in your case make the three global Stacks Fender, Marshall and Ambient. The Input of these Stacks is the Guitar in. The Output is the Channel “Bus 1+2”.

In each Part you can now create a (local) Stack with Input “from Bus 1+2” and Output to I guess whatever you like. I have another Group Channel for my “Guitars”.

Hope I did not forget anything as I needed a while to figure out, why this works here as I had my Bus 1+2 Channel hidden

This sounds promising, I thought it would be something like this, I think I just tried what your describing, when you say create a virtual bus do you mean the input and output are Virtual Audio: Stereo 1+2 for the Device? When I create a stack in the part section of stacks the only output option that shows up (even after this) is “Stereo Out” or “song name”. thnx

ah you can add an out to the mixer, maybe this is it - i think I’m getting somewhere !

I‘m not sure what I ment, because all these ins and outs confuse my mind :face_with_spiral_eyes::zany_face:
You need the Out in the Song, that you can select it as Out from your Global Stack.
I use the virtual Out and In to get from the former Out to the „Part“-Stack. Here I can apply the for the Song required Volume and so on.

If you still struggle then I can send you some screenshots or a short example Project tomorrow.

@michele_battiloro Would work in a similar way as @CliveJ said, but with my approach you can use Parts as intended. I only use Automation where I have to.
