Hi, I’d like to hear your best reccos and usage to use VSTL for plugin inserts on live audio. Like using VSTL similar to Waves SuperRack Performer.
If i have say 3 vocalists and want to insert some plugins on 3 channels, where should I insert it?
On a global stack? Should I nsert the plugins there? or
Should I go to the Mix window in VSTL and insert it on the Stack Insert slot? Or
Should I go to the Mix window in VSTL and insert it on the Insert slot of the Output of the selected Stack channel???
To load the PC less. I would recommend using the stack in global mode. This is less expensive and the effects don’t have to be reloaded on every song. And only 1 time when starting the project
Thanks for the response, but…
That doesn’t really answer my question. I have done a GLOBAL STACK. My question is.. Where should I insert the plugins???
In the Stacks page?
In the Mixer window of the Stack?
In the Mixer window of the Stack Output?
It’s hard to say, cause it depends on your personal setup. But I can share my setup. For vocals, which I use in nearly every song, I use a global stack and insert the plugins in the channel of the mixer. For different keyboard songs I insert it on song level in the mixer channels. So what I could say, I use always the mixer channels for inserts/sends.
As far as I can see from your screenshot. This is an individual stack for a specific track. The global stack is visually distinct. To create a global stack you need.
You’re right, it workes fine in a global stack.
I do this with a “AutoTune 2016” Plugin, and it workes fine with less CPU load and very low latency. The Plugin parameters (scale, tune, etc.) are controlled by an Automation track.
As mentioned somewhere here,if I was using say Auto Tune, according to you, you would put it on the mixer channel insert? Not in the stack(global or song) and not on the OUTPUT INSERT(of that particular mixer channel) of the mixer window.
@musicullum@Spork Any differences in inserting in either of these places? Or is there an optimal place to slot the insert?
Not really. the Stack channel is the output of the stack, so you can add further inserts there. The Stack is merely a submixer, its channels work like regular mixer channels.
