Bizzarre crash: same project spot, same vocal

I’ve tried to re-render the vocal part, save in a different format.

Crashes every time no matter what.

No plugins on this channel, just a raw audio part.

The part itself if inserted in an empty track, plays fine over and over.

Deleted all unused media. Deleted track. Copied original wav files from backup that were never a problem previously. Created new channel.

Doesn’t matter. Cubase is rejecting this vocal performance.

It appears that this is the same bug that another user encountered recently. It’s a problem that can occur if you have (Bezier) automation curves with steep gradients. I believe that the team has a fix for this, but the suggestion I made to another user to delete the automation and recreate it worked for this user.

If you are happy to attach or DM me a sample project that shows the crash then we can use that to verify the fix will be ok for your file too.

Should I redo all automation lines for the project? There are a lot… ugh…

Will the fix be coming in the next update? I can wait, I just skip past that part for now.

You can probably easily check if this is the cause by disabling read automation. And then only for the vocal part and then delete the automation for the place it crashes only.

If you can attach or send me a project then it may turn out to just be one or two automation regions, and I can tell you which one.

Alternatively you can also try ‘Binary Search’. Select a range of 50% of the timeline and Export Audio for this region (usually this will trigger the crash). If it’s ok then you know the problem isn’t in that half, so it must be in the other half. Select 50% of the other half and repeat the process. After a few steps you can often isolate the problem very quickly (assuming that there is only one automation event causing the problem).

I don’t know the schedule for this fix.
