Bizzarre dropout and curser behavior please watch video. thank you

I restarted the computer, power cycled Apollo’s etc. what on earth is going on here? I have never seen this. also this morning I got a digital fragment “click” while recording I haven’t seen one of those since Nuendo 4, might be a clue? arg! thank you

ok it would not let me upload a video shot from my phone so here is my narration.

when I pass the curser over an the edited waveform, diffident parts of the edit appear. when I play back the part there is 5 seconds of silence (in the same place every time). and finally just before all of this, I ran the curser past the part on route to somewhere else and a chunk disappeared. this was not undoable! it may be gone. any thoughts on this? do you know how I can upload a video? (a picture is worth a thousand words). thank you thank you.

update. when I zoom in past a certain point a section of the waveform, and all the ones underneath, disappear as tho I deleted a section. this area corresponds to the audio dropping out on the left side but not the drop back in (right side). zoom back out and it reappears . thank you

update. when I copy to another file (not duplicate track) problem goes away and missing waveforms are back.
