This is day 1 of my conversion to Dorico from Finale. I have learned a lot and I think I will eventually manage to be able to use it efficiently. My first project has an 8 page score which I am attempting to print on a duplex printer. In Finale I used the 8,1,2,7,6,3,4,5 page order. The automatic booklet option lays out the pages: 6,3 : 8,1 : 4,5: 2,7 This results in the reverse sides being printed on the wrong sheets. There does not appear to be a method of over-riding this order. Reverse order of outward pages appears to do nothing different. Any suggestions please?
I seem to remember that the Duplex printing options affect the booklet page order. Try checking “Reverse Order of Outward Pages.”
Very important: if you’re exporting to PDF (Graphics), the settings under Printer also apply, which is a bit confusing. If the PDF should have e.g. 8-1, 2-7, 6-3, 4-5 like in the OP example, but it shows the wrong order in the preview panel, adjust these Printer settings first, then go back to Graphics.
It would be nice if the Duplex options would be visible under Graphics, because you need them there as well.
Thanks for the answers. I have tried the Reverse order option and nothing changes.
My issue isn’t with page numbering but that the reverse pages are printed on the wrong front pages. The pairs of 2-up pages are correct but they print on the wrong sheets.
I’m not currently trying to print to PDF. However, checking out the Printer options doesn’t appear to offer any way of re-ordering pages.
Normally, you don’t need to do anything fancy to print duplex booklets from Dorico. Make sure the Duplex Printing options are set correctly on the right-hand side of Print mode, so Print on is set to Both sides automatically, and that should be enough (provided you also set Job type to Booklet of course).
Are you perhaps trying to print via the Print dialog accessed in the bottom left-hand corner of Print mode? If so, ignore that: use the options on the right-hand side instead.
Thanks. That’s what I’m doing.
What model of printer are you using? It shouldn’t make any difference, because (to my knowledge) the way the duplexer information etc. is presented to Dorico should be the same regardless of model.
I am using a Konica Minolta biz hub 227 which has duplex. I have discovered that the Duplex printing, Print on panel on my
laptop has the ‘Both sides automatically’ option (and this delivers the correct page order) but my desktop, running all the same software as far as I can tell, only has ‘One side only’ and ‘Both sides manually’. I’ve checked the printer settings and can’t see any differences between the laptop and desktop options. Can anyone solve this?
Thanks
There must be a difference in the printer driver version installed on each of your systems. Can you double-check that you are running the most recent driver on both computers?
You are right. The laptop has an AirPrint 3.0 driver. The Mac mini has a different one - there is only one option for a driver download for this printer and I have installed this. No difference. I have contacted Konica Minolta to see if they can help.
Appreciate your help.
Daniel,
The problem is solved. As you suggested, and I suspected, it was a driver issue. Although I had the newest version it didn’t fully function until I removed the printer from the list and re-installed.
Thanks for your help.
