Bought a new computer. Have dongle. Cubase says "No valid licence found". What?

So I bought a new computer. I had Cubase 10 PRO before. Now I installed 10.5.3 PRO.
Everything installed normally but when I run Cubase it says “No valid licence found”.

How in the world is this thing so complicated? Or is it just me?

I thought you just install Cubase, plug in the dongle and it should work. What am I doing wrong?

I did maintainance check on my elicencer software and everything was ok. The dongle is also recognized in elicencer software. I have no idea what I am missing here.

Can anyone please help? Googling didn’t yield results even though I found people with similar problems. Everything is just too complicated, the more I searched around.

The dongle works normally on the old computer, I checked.

I can’t figure it out.

Did you purchase Cubase 10.5 ? You can’t run 10.5 on a 10.0 license, perhaps that’s what is going on?

x.5 versions are still paid for updates.

I bought Cubase 10. I thought 10.5 is just an update and still under the 10 version, since I could download it normally.

If I understand correctly, I should have paid for the 10.5 update still?

And so in this case I should download Cubase 10 then?

Yes, the latest version you can download is Cubase Pro 10.0.60. The x.5 updates can be confusing, especially as they’re paid for.

You are a legend! I would have never figured this out by myself.

Thank you so much for the help.
