Bracket question - not working as expected

Why would I not be able to bracket the choir in this file? If I start fresh and add choir ensemble it brackets correctly, but sometimes with imported files I can’t, even if I add the choir as an ensemble.

I don’t see any bracket signposts that need deleted. Layout>Brackets is set to orchestral

If I try to add in Engrave mode nothing happens. I can add a brace, or barlines through staves, but not brackets.

I must be missing something simple…

This is due to some strange settings in Engraving Options > Brackets and Braces. Bracket was indeed here, but invisible.

Here are the factory defaults (your settings were 0 Space, None, 0 Space):

Strange, I wonder why it was set that way. I’ve come across this problem before, so it was probably on a template I downloaded from somewhere. Thanks!!
