While I don’t necessarily agree on keeping the dongle itself, I think people should have the right to install older versions of their software, as well as the new ones. If you buy Cubase 14 then you can install Cubase 12, but not lower than that because of the dongle.

I expressed this, as well, in one of my previous replies:

It would be nice if SB could patch their old programs to run without the dongle. Not an easy task, I know. But it would probably require far less resources to do thát, rather than dealing with a lot of angry customers and supporting a vast amount of dongle users in the future and give them “individual solutions”. Plus, it would give more incentive for new people to buy the newest software when those same people could have the freedom to use any of the old software, if they don’t feel like joinin…

I never had any issues with the dongles and it was really great when going between systems.

But I guess that’s not an issue many people have that requirement so now it’s like it is. So many were vocal against it - never could figure out what the issue was.

Probably gone forever, unfortunately.
