Hi there,
I’ve discovered a bug in Cubase 15.0.20 on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 after renaming and/or moving the project folder. I get the usual prompt where it says “The project file has been moved!”:
I then click option “New (1)” to indicate the new project file path.
The next dialog that pops up is the “Resolve Missing Files”. I choose the correct “Audio” folder in the same project path:
I choose the correct folder path for Audio:
However, this is when ONLY .wavs and .mp3s in the project folder are detected. All the .aif files show up as blank parts on the audio.
*NOTE: All the .aifs, .wavs and .mp3 are in the folder and show up in Windows Explorer, but they are not visible when choosing the folder from the Cubase dialog.
Here is what the project looks like once open:
None of the .aif files show up, however one of files is .wav after I edited it externally. That shows up. Also the .mp3 reference track shows up at the top (not visible in this screenshot).
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a project with mixed audio in it: WAV, AIF/AIFF, MP3.
- Save the project in a location of your choice
- Close Cubase
- Rename or Move the project folder to a new path (either works)
- Reopen the project from the NEW path, not the old path
- Click “New (1)” on “The project file has been moved!” dialog box to select the new project location
- Click “Browse Folder” on the “Resolve Missing Files” dialog and choose the correct NEW path for the “Audio” folder
- Click “Select Folder”
- The Cubase project will open. Only the WAV and MP3 audio will show up in the project. All the AIF files will show up as blank parts and there will be no audio from those parts upon playback.
I hope this helps resolve the issue. It’s definitely a bug, and I don’t recall this occurring in Cubase 14. I used to rename project folders all the time to add the correct tempo to the name, and this issue never occurred when using AIF files in projects. It would discover the correct audio as normal.
Kind regards, Jim.
