Something is wrong with “Insert Silence”: audio events are misplaced and tempo track is ignored in the process. This used to work.
select a range in the timeline
set the marker at L position
“insert silence”
see silence is inserted
see Tempo Track is not adjusted correctly afterwards, resulting in displacement of events etc
My project is rather large (complete album), I keep tempo track in a divided section of the track view. After “insert silence” I notice that tempo track points for songs later in the sesssion are not shifted according to the range I selected for insert silence…
Unfortunately, I’ve always had this issue: when I use “Insert Silence,” the tempo track doesn’t move (I think I started using this function since Cubase 13).
As a workaround, I used the Arrangement Track, which moves everything without any issue.
I have seen this issue on some of my large projects in CB14 (up to 14.0.32) - but always with Divide Track List enabled. I’ve had to turn off Divide Track List or move tracks below to insert silence.
I’ve just re-opened one of those projects in CB14 and inserted silence and it worked fine with Divide Track List on - so I suspect this an intermittent issue that doesn’t always occur.
I’m trying to reproduce it in a simple session with arranger/track divide, but it work fine there. I think it is related to the whole session size.
I can reproduce the error in the big album project file - audio clips past the “insert silence” point are misaligned with the tempo changes. Very annoying.
Any suggestions on how I can reduce the problem session in size for a reproducible example?
Of course that means the tempo track is not modified when using “insert silence” .. DOH!
After unlocking the track, the “Insert silence” function worked just fine, also with track division active.
Someone else worked on the session before me and I was simply not aware of the lock. It would have been helpful with a message telling me something like “One or more tracks are locked and will not have silence inserted” or something
