Hello. I am wondering if this is expected behaviour. (MacOS Sequoia 15.7.4)
I have the Score Editor open in a separate window. If I make an edit to a note, say the pitch, in the Key Editor, the note doesn’t update in the Score Editor until I manually change the view in the Score Editor, for eg. selecting a different view or visibility option.
The same happens if I select a note in the Score Editor and change its pitch via the Status Line. It doesn’t update visually until I change the view.
Thanks,
To recreate:
Create a new project
Create a new MIDI or Instrument track
Open Score editor in window
Use Draw Tool to create notes, or insert/edit notes via Key Editor, record, etc.
The Score Editor view does not update until a new view is selected
EDIT: I have ‘Sync Layout’ active in the Score Editor.
EDIT 2: It also doesn’t show new notes being drawn directly in the Score Editor with the Draw Tool until the view is refreshed. Seems more like a bug.
EDIT 3: As far as I can tell the Score Editor display doesn’t update when notes are deleted or played in via step recording either.
EDIT 4: Additionally, Cubase just crashed instantly to desktop when I tried to record into the Score Editor via Step Recording. Something seems very broken with Score Editor. Crash log attached below.
Hi @inthevoid, sorry to hear you’re having problems. I’ve tried to follow the steps you describe, but I can’t reproduce any of the issues you are describing. Notes should always update immediately, and step recording also works without crashing for me.
Are you experiencing these problems with every new project? Have you been working successfully with 15.0.20?
Hi @StefanFuhrmann, thanks for your response. I’ve just tried trashing the preferences and opening a new project and it now works as expected. However the project that was having issues before still doesn’t work. I’ve attached a video above for reference in case it’s useful. I wasn’t having issues as far as I’m aware on 15.0.20, though I haven’t been using the score editor recently until this morning.
The same thing happens to me.
I’ve tested your file and I have the same problem.
Furthermore, if you tray to add lyrics text, You’ll not see the modifications in real time.
But if you exit from score and re-enter you’ll see that the changes are there.
This issue is happening on my orchestral projects, with instrumental and vocal tracks, created ante 15.0.21 (I don’t know if this happens in 15.0.20 because I didn’t work on them in those 3 weeks.
If I use on my secondary PC who has mounted 15.0.06, all is fine.
If I create a new project in 15.0.21, alla is fine.
So I think that something has changed in last update.
I have sent a message with an example to mr. Stefan Fuhrmann, but this yours is a good file to test because it’s small.
Yes, your issue is the same as this one as the score editor is not updating in both projects. I find that if you open the projects that you and inthevoid have sent us in 15.0.20, it’s the same, so it’s not a new bug. I have logged this now. Thank you both for reporting this.
As I said in another post, in an orchestral score it’s sufficient to change the instrument part to see the modifications.
But it’s annoying because it’s a blind work…
If either the tempo track, the marker track, the chord track or the signature track is locked it ruins the connection from the key editor to the score editor!
I’ve just tested these types of tracks, but it might apply to other kinds of track as well.
No wonder many people didn’t have trouble with this!
Thanks all for your feedback. We’re testing a fix internally and plan to make it available with the next maintenance release. Apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime. As Mads has found, this was indeed caused specifically by these types of locked tracks.
