if this was fixed can you guys please fix it in cubase 13 as well ?
I see no useful features in 14 nor 15 to upgrade and I don’t want to pay $50 just for one bug fix.
I noticed clicking “alt” when this happens often resets the tool to correct tool

There is a video of the problem here: Drag and copy with selection tool - #4 by huskybiz
I’m seeing the problem in C15.0.5 with Sequoia 15.6.1.
Are you saying it has been fixed, but the fix has not yet been released?
Hi,
Cubase 13 is not in the development anymore, sorry.
It should already be fixed with Cubase 15.0.0. I cannot reproduce this anymore. If you still can reproduce it, then there must be some more involved. Can you provide me with a profile of your settings? Maybe some setting causes this which I don’t have enabled locally.
It happens even when I start in safe mode with preferences disabled. If you do that, does it still work ok for you? What exactly would you like people who are experiencing this to send to you?
I could never reproduce it that easy as in the video. I needed to do some more steps to actually get into this state where it happened. I just tried the custom steps again and this doesn’t trigger the bug anymore even in Cubase 14 (I’m on macOS 26.1). Maybe there’s a bug in macOS too, which is involved. I will try again with a VM with macOS 15.x, if I can reproduce the issue in there with C14.
Even in a macOS 15.x VM I cannot reproduce this issue anymore. I have no native macOS 15.x system available myself to check that.
Maybe another idea about the cause, what input device are you using (Mouse, Touchpad)? I checked with an Apple Touchpad and a simple 2 button Logitech mouse.
I usually use a Razer mouse, but I just tried a Kensington mouse and that shows the problem too.
As you can see above, people have reported this on MacOS 14 as well as MacOS 15. So it’s multiple people, multiple versions of Cubase, multiple versions of MacOS, multiple pointing devices.
Do you see the problem in safe mode? Are you doing the same steps shown in the video? (Click-opt-drag to make a duplicate, then hover over the lower right corner of the object and the cursor will be a pencil as if opt is stuck on).
Is there any information people can send you to help with this?
Just to clarify, I cannot see this problem either in safe mode or otherwise. Our QA team has also been unable to reproduce this issue anymore.
As there are still a few individuals experiencing this issue, we need to identify the specific differences on their systems that trigger this behavior.
Just to make sure we’re talking about the same thing since the exact sequence may not be obvious in the video, the recipe is:
Mouse button down on a part
Opt key down
Drag to duplicate the part
Release the mouse button
Release the opt key
At this point, when I hover over the lower right corner of a part, the cursor will be a pencil and clicking and dragging will make copies of the part, instead of extending it. In other words, it acts as if the opt key is still down.
Note, and this seems important, that only happens on the lower right corner of the part. Hovering over anywhere else on the part, the cursor does not act as if the opt key is down, the cursor is an arrow, not scissors.
Hi,
I can’t replicate it even following these steps. What kind of mouse Doo you use, please?
See above where we discussed the mouse.
What version of MacOS are you using?
Hi,
I’m using macOS 15 and 26 with the same result.
It is important to first press the mouse button and then hold option to replicate the issue. Holding option before the mouse click will not replicate it.
