BUG. Cursor switches to pencil tool after opt-drag

Hello everyone.
I got this annoying issue going on in Cubase 13 on MacOS Sonoma ( M1 MacBook ) , seems like no other Cubase users experience this.
How to recreate this Bug:
Have tool set to regular cursor ( tool from number pad 1 ) ,
Click on any audio or midi part, press and hold ALT key, drag the part to a different “location” on time line on the same track, release the mouse button and release the ALT key.
Now go to the right bottom corner of that part, normally the tool should automatically switch to stretch arrows ( not sure exactly how it’s called ) , but in this case the tool switches to a pencil tool.

Here I made 2 short videos to demonstrate this issue more clearly:

Just realized that I can’t post links here. Hopefully my post clear enough without the video

Thank you. I see this bug frequently, but I didn’t report it because I couldn’t figure out the pattern. You’re right, it happens after opt/alt-drag.

Just for info. A part is copied using the Alt/Opt+Drag process described. The end of the part is set with the double arrow at the bottom right. The error is probably MACOS specific, at least I couldn’t reproduce it in the Windows version (Cubase 13.0.41).

I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this. I posted it in Cubase Facebook groups previously but no one there could reproduce it ( I assume they were doing something different with key commands )

Yes it’s MacOs specific issue. It doesn’t happen on Windows.
If I remember correctly, this issue also doesn’t happen in Cubase 12 and older versions.

same issue here. I emailed Steinberg support before, they told me they forwarded this to the developers, and that’s it, no fix still

I have been using Cubase for 20 years and have experienced this strange behavior on Windows for at least 10 years.
It should be reproducible but it’s hard to be empathized.

Can’t reproduce, it works fine here (Win 10 22H2 Cubase 13.0.41.

It doesn’t happen on my windows computer either. Only on my MacBook laptop.

On windows ? Oh wow so it even happens on windows too. I personally am experiencing this issue only on MacBook laptop and only in Cubase 13

Any updates on fixes for this ?

Can we please get a fix for this. It’s surprising Steinberg has released updates without fixing this.

Yep happens here too on Mac but could never figure out why it happens. Moving the mouse cursor all the way to the top of the screen will reset back to normal.
