Bug in SpectraLayers 11 with Cut Special

Hello. Downloaded and installed SpectraLayers 11. Little by little, I began to understand the program.
But unfortunately, I found a bug. When I open the program in Cubase, it does not work correctly.
The problem is as follows. I select a part of the spectrum on any layer with any tool,
then transfer this selected part to a new layer using the Cut Special function. Then,
I cannot separate the new layer obtained as a result of this operation.
I press the Solo button, but at the same time the Solo button lights up on the main track from which I cut the data. video
It turns out two Solo tracks and therefore I can’t see the new track separately.
The same function works well in the Standalone version. But I want to work from Cubase as it
is much more convenient for me. What solutions can there be to this problem? Thank you.

Hi Turbobluzz,

I’m not sure if what you describes is the intended behaviour, but what you can do is to drag and drop your new layer (skazka(cut)) back into cubase as a new track. Then you’ll have two layers at the same “level” in SL, and you’ll be able to solo each one separately.

Hi, Franck_Magnier
Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is. That’s what I’m doing. But I need to work on this layer before transferring it to Cubase track. In the Standalone version, everything works as it should.video

Hi @Turbobluzz in that case it’s not a bug, rather a limitation of ARA.
In ARA mode SpectraLayers cannot create independent layers by itself, all new layers needs to depend on an existing layer assigned by the host. If you Solo a child layer, its parent layer needs to be Solo as well (otherwise muting the parent would mute the child).
So the workaround in that case would be either what @Franck_Magnier suggest, or to create a new sub-layer, cut/paste its content of the parent layer to this sub-layer, and then do your Cut Special from there.

Thank you for answer!
Now I understand what needs to be done.
Thanx again!

Hi Robin_Lobel!
I want to say that after all, the program does not work correctly in Cubase. If you consider that my previous remarks are incorrect, there are other problems. For example, when I selected a part of a layer and I play it, I hear the whole layer. And in the standalone version, I only hear what is highlighted. It is very inconvenient to work in cubase.

@Turbobluzz that’s not supposed to happen, and I can’t repro that issue you’re describing here.
When I select something in the spectrogram and hit the space bar, I only hear what is selected.
Can you do a video recording of your issue ?

Hi Turbobluzz,

I see that you are using Cubase transport control. If you use the SL Transport control instead, you’ll only hear what is selected. You can also use “Shift + Spacebar” instead of “Spacebar”.
I guess Cubase can only “see” modifications of an audio event when they are done/applied. Selections can’t probably be seen through ARA (or something like that, I’m just guessing here). Only Robin can confirm.

Hi, Franck_Magnier
Thank You for answer.
When I open SL in Cubase it doesn’t have its own transport bar. Only Cubase. Or am I looking at the wrong place?

When you use SL in ARA mode the transport bar is not seen by default, unfortunately.
You must tick it in View>Toolbars>Transport (in SL) to see and use it.
