I found a bug in the new version, Cubasis 3.8.5. Prior to the update, this did not happen. The video shows an audio event being moved, but what is not shown, is that I actually only moved the event a tiny bit, roughly 1/4, and then let go. But as seen in the video it doesn’t stop when I let go, it goes off on its own and keeps going, to eventually stop.
Note that this only happens when the Snap Grid is off. When it’s on, moving audio events behaves normally.
For what it may be worth, this effect is worsened when using a mouse or Apple Pencil 2.
Only audio events are affected, not MIDI events. The project has 5 audio tracks and two MIDI tracks, not a lot of insert and send effects. DSP load averages around 15%.
It seems to only concern an unusually long project, in this case 29 minutes. Considering those circumstances I don’t find it to be much of an issue, but thought I’d report it anyway in case it’s of use to the team.
I’ve tried reproducing the bug in other projects of various shorter lengths, and it never happens there; only in this unusually long project.
iPad Pro 2022 12.9”, iPad OS 26.5.2.
Hi @Shoobidoo,
Thanks for your report. I’ll forward the details to the engineering team for review.
Please allow some time for investigation. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have an update.
Best regards,
Lars
Thanks, much appreciated.
If anyone else run into the same issue, let me know in this topic. I found some workarounds to do precise positioning.
Cheers
Hi @Shoobidoo,
So far, we have been unable to reproduce this issue. Would it be possible for you to share the project with us so that our engineering team can further investigate the problem?
To do so, please upload the project to Dropbox or a similar file-sharing service and send me the download link via email (see PM for my contact details).
Thanks,
Lars
Hi @LSlowak,
I wish I could, but I’m afraid I’m not allowed to share this particular project, due to it being an unreleased commercial project that’s not mine; I’ve only been asked to play trumpet on it.
At this point I’m still able to do edits in it, so on my behalf it’s not much of an issue. I simply apply various workarounds to move and align audio events precisely, so I should be able to finish it despite the bug.
Sorry I couldn’t be of further assistance.
Hi again, @LSlowak ,
Actually, turns out that I could just create a new project that was about half the length of this one, throw in one of the Steinberg drum loops, duplicate that so as to resemble a lengthy project with many edited audio events, and still reproduce the same issue.
I will upload the project to you, as per your instructions in the PM, as soon as the audio events have stopped moving by themselves
I’ll include a new video of the bug, and all the details.
Cheers
