When changing from another mode (e.g. Write mode) to Engrave mode, the view automatically jumps to the very first page of the project. This behaviour interrupts workflow, especially when working on later pages, as the user must manually navigate back to the intended location.
Expected Behaviour
• Switching to Engrave mode should preserve the current page view.
• Users should remain on the same page they were editing before the mode change.
Actual Behaviour
• The view resets to the first page of the project whenever Engrave mode is activated.
Benefits of Fixing
• Improved workflow continuity when editing scores.
• Reduced time spent re-navigating to the correct page.
• Consistency with user expectations across modes.
Hi @prko, this issue was often discussed in the Forum. I saw big improvements in this regard, in the last couple of version, though.
Here a couple of suggestions:
don’t use fill zoom levels (Whole Page, Page Eight , etc…), which seem to case some problems in such switch cases;
have a selection active before switching, then if after the switch the position changes, use an assigned shortcut to the Key Command Center Selection;
have your project activated, with a selection active, before switching. If after switching the position changes, press PP (start and stop playback) so that the follow playhead functionality will bring the selection into view.
Thank you for your comment!
I will test again and will send my project file to Dorico team!
And…

Yes, I frequently use this also… It is helpful in some cases, of course!
