[Bug?] Trashing Files NOT Trashing Files (Mac)

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. It’s been happening forever, but I am working on some tedious audio and need a break:

I finish editing a file. Bounce to disk. Go to the pool and invoke “remove unused media.” Trash all of the unused. (as opposed to remove from pool).

I go to my audio folder and the original’s still there. I trash it; no problem. Close the project and reopen it just to see if I’ve made a terrible mistake, but everything works.

I’ve been trying to monitor how and when this happens. It tends to occur when the editing has taken place over the course of an extended period of time-- from several hours to more than a day. And it’s been happening for several versions of Nuendo.

Also-- for the record-- If I work fast and delete after a short (hour or two) editing stint, the “remove unused media” function works as expected and the file’s deleted from the computer.

I am GUESSING this is a bug, not a feature.

Any ideas? Or commiserations?

Well, for the time being anyway, I’ll chalk it up to a possible idiosyncrasy with my system. Will be interesting to see if the issue endures when I upgrade computers later this year. But in the meantime, still interested to see if anyone else has encountered this problem.
