BUG? VST Remote-Control Focus not respected in Cubase Pro 12

Issue
Quick Controls adjusted via control surface mapped via MIDI Remote Script sometimes affect the wrong instrument (i.e. not the one that is shown as being the currently selected target).

Pre-requisites

  1. MIDI remote control surface is attached.
  2. MIDI remote control surface is mapped via a MIDI Remote Script so that one or more Quick Controls are linked to one or more encoders.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a new project.
  2. Show the VST Instruments window or the VSTi tab in the Right Zone.
  3. Add three VST Track Instruments (e.g. Halion SE)
  4. The most recently added instrument is shown as being selected.
  5. Twiddle a mapped encoder.
  6. The corresponding Quick Control is adjusted in the selected instrument (expected).
  7. Click Set Remote Control Focus for VST Quick Controls to Next Instrument.
  8. The first instrument is shown as being selected.
  9. Twiddle a mapped encoder.
  10. The corresponding Quick Control is adjusted in the most-recently added instrument, not the currently selected instrument (not expected).
  11. Click Set Remote Control Focus for VST Quick Controls to Next Instrument.
  12. The second instrument is shown as being selected.
  13. Twiddle a mapped encoder.
  14. The corresponding Quick Control is adjusted in the most-recently added instrument, not the currently selected instrument (not expected).
  15. Click the Edit icon in the first instrument.
  16. The plug-in’s edit window displays.
  17. Twiddle a mapped encoder.
  18. The corresponding Quick Control is adjusted in the instrument being edited (expected, but shouldn’t it be shown in the VST Instrument window as being the current target?).
  19. Close the edit window.
  20. Twiddle a mapped encoder.
  21. The corresponding Quick Control is adjusted in the most recently added instrument, not the selected instrument (not expected).

I removed the tag “shared-midi-remote” since this is no shared script.
Added the tag issue.
