I’ve just finished a new track called “It’s Spring in Saint Petersburg”, built entirely in Cubase using some pretty old Steinberg plugins — Neon, Karlette, VB-1 and a few other old VSTs.
It leans into IDM / downtempo techno, and for me it was also a small experiment: I wanted to hear how these older Steinberg tools would hold up in a full track today.
To my ears, they still sound surprisingly convincing.
Does anyone here still use Neon, Karlette, VB-1 or other older Steinberg plugins in current projects?
