Buttons for MIDI Map respond after 2 or 3 clicks

Hey all, I’ve tried multiple midi controllers such as the Launch control XL, roto control, etc, and I noticed that when I assign the buttons via the midi map to something, say “open vst”, it never does it on the first try. Sometimes the 2nd press works, sometimes the 3rd. This is extremely annoying. Being that every midi controller does this, it must be a Cubase setting. Can somebody please point me in the right direction to fix this?! Thank you!

First, I would try and see if your midi controller has a built in way of changing the sensitivity of the buttons.

Also you can look into midi remote settings in Cubase.

This is what google spits out here:

“Adjusting Behavior (for function/toggle buttons)

If you’re using buttons to control Cubase functions (like Mute, Solo, or play/stop), “sensitivity” might relate to the Value Mode in the MIDI Remote mapping:

  1. Open the MIDI Remote panel in the Lower Zone or the right zone.

  2. Select the button on the virtual surface in the editor.

  3. In the mapping area, look for the Value Mode setting (or similar parameter options).

  4. Change the mode from Toggle (press once for ON, press again for OFF) to Jump (value follows button press duration/state) or ensure it is set correctly for your desired behavior. This controls how the button’s message interacts with the assigned function
