Hi i´m looking at these two. The difference in price isn´t big. What im wondering about it heat and i i really need a watercooler as the company that sells suggested?
I not going to stuff Cubase with large amounts of tracks but i want to be able to use more fx and instruments than i can now. Im 70 years old and i havent checked computer stuff since i built the computer i have now 5 years ago. If anyone has a suggestion for a fan (preferably a Noctua) id appreciate it much
Slightly wooried that the upper one is “ too hot” not to be water cooled.
I have a i7 13700k system with an Noctua NH-D15 CPU fan. Undervolted it a bit with no detrimental effect on my DAW’s. Now it runs cool and silent. Zero problems in nearly 3 years.
I also have Noctua case fans. These are built to last en don’t get noisy after a couple of years.
I run a pair of machines in my home studio with 14700K processors. Both are cooled with Noctua NH-D15 CPU fans and they work well. The only time the CPUs get hot is if I’m running one of my DAW benchmark projects. Of course that’s intentional as I’m pushing them near their limit, but even in those circumstances the processors don’t reach their max temperatures.
I use Fractal Design cases with plenty of case fans to ensure good airflow.
Not sure if you have a reason to be set on the older processors, but the current Core Ultra 7 265k is right around the same price and has been shown on other forums to perform better with DAW workloads.
I checked it and it would fit in my Corsair case with 2 millimeters of space left but i will consider it. The same fan was suggested by a guy that writes articles on computing and studio. Maybe should buy another case
