Buying older versions of Cubase from Steinberg.net?

Hi, Fellow Cubaser.

I don’t know where my last post went but I asked if anyone knew the exact date the eLicenser service was closing down. Unfortunately, no one knew the specific date. I only asked because I don’t want to lose my coveted loyal Cubase upgrade discount (it’s a heck of a savings).

I’m currently deciding between buying more SWAM instruments (on BF sale) and saving for my TBA surprise Cubase upgrade early next year. I love all the new features Cubase 14 Pro offers but I’m fine upgrading to Cubase 13 for the time being. I’m mainly just interested in moving over to the new licensing system from Cubase 11 Pro in the most affordable way.

TL;DR: Is it possible to upgrade to Cubase 13 from Cubase 11, after the release of Cubase 14, directly from Steinberg.net?

Correct, because the date has not been defined at the moment.

You can buy always just the latest release, but that also allows you to run the previous release. So you buy Cubase 14, but install Cubase 13 and that will work.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that we can only buy the latest version of Cubase, Juergen.

Well, Here’s hoping the deadline doesn’t fall in January or that Steinberg has a surprise “Farewell eLicenser” sale. 'Cause I really need more SWAM instruments in my life, My Linnstrument is hungry.

Just to make sure. After the eLicenser support is turned off early 2025 there will be no options available to upgrade from Cubase version < 12. You will have to buy a full version no matter which previous version below 12 you already owned prior to that date.

Oh absolutely. I’m hoping Steinberg at least sends out a few E-mail blasts so we don’t miss the cutoff date. :crossed_fingers:

Good God man, why is that :flushed:???

Personally, I doubt they’ll send an email blast as they’ve already given a 2-year heads up that this was coming.

On the other hand, everyone likes any excuse for a sale…so who knows

No idea. Came out of nowhere and took me by surprise.

That’s pretty radical from Steinberg…
