Yeah just watch out you don’t run into it continually running in the background and filling up the rest of the files with junk haha. I was hanging on to that 180GB folder but once I saw it was just filling the files with dead space, I went ahead and deleted it. ViewSonic has me pretty busy today, but once I’m on a break, I can try out the new copies of those I made yesterday by converting them to AIF and back again and see if that helps at all.
The BWF chunk in the file you provided is INVALID. It is smaller (570 Bytes) then the BWF-specification allows (min 602 Bytes). We will provide a fix that will ignore such chunks.
I’m still a bit baffled by how some of those ended up as BWFs in the first place. I bought that pack like 20 years ago when Zero-G still sold it, and it’s supposed to be ACID loops. Looking at the metadata in AudioFinder, about half of them are still showing as ‘ACID files’ but the rest are now BWF’s. I didn’t have time this weekend to check out the bundle I converted back to ACID WAVs yet, but I’ll have to go look at the format of the files in the actual bundle I archived when I bought it and see if I might have done something before I added those to my library.
It’s a weird one. I have all my sample packs I’ve bought archived on a NAS here. I grabbed the old zip file of that particular pack, and none of the files in my archive are BWF, they’re all still ‘regular’ ACIDized WAV files. I wonder if at some point I did some weird batch processing in something that messed them up.
Before I overloaded myself with samples, whenever I would buy a new pack, I would run them through Myriad and batch process the whole lot, normalize, convert to mono, etc.. I wonder if somewhere along the way it perhaps corrupted some files. Not all the files in that folder were BWF’s which is the odd part. About half are still ACID WAVs, the rest were the odd BWFs.
The funny part is, I think it’s this SAME library that I always ran into this issue with too. I’ll have to try retagging my newly restored files in Halion tonight and see if we ‘fixed’ it haha.
Aww man, I must not have checked the forum before I left for work or I would’ve updated this morning haha. Will check it out as soon as I get home. They got Halion fixed so I’ve been using Mediabay there to tag stuff lately, but now I can go back home to Cubase and do it again!!
