C14 CPU usage unstable

C13 CPU stable

C14 CPU is jumpy

same session on both. Windows 11, 14900k, 32GB Ram

is this normal? is it just a faster refresh rate? if so, can it be slowed down?

Same here! Amd 7600x, win 11

Maybe that’s expected behavior, but I do not like that erratic meter at all (maybe because I have one pinned at the top panel all the time)

agreed, the erratic meter is distracting! I have mine pinned too. I need to monitor CPU usage

+1 Yes it is. I had to take it out from my upper bar. Annoying and distracting.

Same here in Monterey OSX

Same here on Mac ARM M2 Max

Idk, maybe its because C14 have faster refresh rate of ASIO Guard monitoring and actually the behavior is same, just C13 have slower refresh rate for meter and thats why it looks smoother. But in reality C14 could be more precise and informative. I honestly dont know, just my thoughts.

Indeed. It looks way more accurate

No issues what so ever here.

Seems to be an Intel problems.

Amd 7900x
Windows 10
Rme babyface 128 mb
Runs like a charm on full project

this is what I figured too… its a faster refresh rate thing :+1: :+1:

Same here. Its jumpiness makes me a bit jittery. Honestly, I think I preferred the slower refresh rate in 13, but this is in no way meant as a gripe or complaint. I just have to get used to the meter jumping around like crazy.

Overall a nice update.

Best,

It’s a nice update in general but the user should have the option to set a fast or slow refresh rate. It’s as if Steinberg forgot that people pin this meter to the toolbars. Customization is very important in DAW software design, an aspect that Steinberg seems to struggle with.

Strange I had the same “problem” with C13 Pro (and it’s the same with C14 Pro): fast refresh or jumping meters I wished they solved but it looks like there’s no solution…

Having the exact same issue, just posted the same Audio Performance Not a Stable as Cubase 13

For me it’s not just the meter, it seems C14 is using more power to do nothing and I don’t know why.

This project has like 30-40 tracks in it and it’s not even playing, just sitting idly by.

I was doing virtual orchestras in C13 with over 150 tracks with no issues and a buffer size of 256 samples. Now I can’t do 30 tracks without dropouts

Any idea if this issue has been addressed yet?

When I first load Cubase I am getting similar behaviour to Tarquam (2 posts above) but I get dropouts. If I reboot it seems to be much better and the track plays without dropouts but the meter is still a bit jumpy. I’m on the latest version of Win 11.

Same problem here. Cubase 14 is unstable

In the main window of C14, the upper bar displays either the current real-time peak or the ASIO-Guard load, depending on which of the two has the higher value.

While in C11, you see the average.

I’m having the same problem with Cubase 14. The performance meters are high, unstable and Cubase is slower. I didn’t have this problem with version 13. I hope Steinberg fixes this instability as soon as possible. When recording at low latencies the meter keeps moving like crazy.
