Have spent an inordinate amount of time building a new template, compiled of multi-out inst tracks, each outputting separate mic positions on each output.
You should be able to see each separate output when clicking the ‘show/hide automation’ arrow on the track itself which I was able to do previously. However for some inexplicable reason these have ALL disappeared. Every single track is no longer showing the automation lanes in the arrange window.
I can however still see the outputs in the drop down menu in the inspector, which are still activated. I can also see the outputs in the mixer, and can even write automation on the faders in the mixer, albeit that nothing shows up in the arrange window even when doing this and no automation/write information appears either, despite the automation playing back.
Kontkat and the loaded inst are fine, and the instrument incl the separate outputs playback fine.
This has taken days upon days of work to set up, so would appreciate any info on
A) Hopefully rectifying this without having to rebuild the entire thing again…
B) What the cause of this issue is so I can avoid this happening again.
Never found a solution unfortunately and it forced me to abandon the use of multi-outs directly in Cubase (this plus the bug where the outputs keep losing their routing).
Both of you have this issue with a Kontakt track.
Do you have this issue also with Halion (Sonic)? In this case you could delete all other tracks and then share the project here?
This is actually the second time this has happened when building a template, the last time my instances of the spitfire app were all affected as well with the same behaviour, so I doubt its kontakt specific, especially since the audio is still outputting and the VST itself appears fine.
I’m working from a backup that I thankfully saved, but will add a halion sonic track in the same way and see if this happens again.
I still haven’t figured out any steps to replicate the bug however, atm seems to happen at random, but does effect every single multi-out track in the project at once.
Personally I think the implementation of multi-outs is a bit messy, and I have feeling that’s where the issue comes from. Not really audio or group tracks and not automation but are treated as a bit of both.
As per your previous comment can confirm the bug has happened again (actually twice but forgot to add Halion Sonic Tracks, which I then did)
Still not sure of the cause or how to replicate. May have something to do with disabling tracks. In the pic below, the whole template was deactivated except for the SSO tracks, which subsequently were the only multi-out inst not affected. Everything else the audio outs are no longer visible like the Halion track.
Thanks for sharing the project. As I don’t have the SSO plugin the tracks are inactive.
The Halion Sonic tracks were made inactive already on your end (as per your screenshot).
I activated a couple… and indeed was not able to get the tracks of all activated output return channels displayed.
On the second Halion Sonic track I then deactivated and reactivated those outputs and then I got to see the tracks for the return channels as expected. Of course the names were reset to default as there were not presets loaded.
I also tried adding a new HS instrument track to the project in order to see if the problem would show there as well but it worked as expected.
I am working on a 15.0.x version. Maybe this makes a difference, maybe it does not. I will see if I can find someone who can forward the case and the project to Steinberg in case they want to have a look at the project.
If you deactivate an output and then activate it again it seems the name is reset to the default value. Not sure if this is by design or a bug.
With ‘preset’ I referred to the sound presets that you can load into a program slot. Cubase will use the name of the program for the output channel. TBH I haven’t worked too much with user defined names for outputs. I am not too knowledgeable what is supposed to happen with channel names.
