Hi,
I am new to the community. And I used to work with Cubase few months back (I am coming from a Sonar Background). Recently my PC had an issue and I just installed Cubase 8 AI to my MacBook Pro which is running El Capitan.

I have a Steinberg UR242 audio interface. I am unable to get an audio input and record it in Cubase. And even the midi signals are coming and getting recorded, the VST instruments will not give any sounds via the Audio Interface.

Today I saw that Steinberg had released few updates which might fixed the aforementioned issues.

Just wondering if anyone tried it and got any success.

Yes, It will of course depend on the capacity on the disc. I have a 2 TB SSD system disc. It is 1,2TB full, so partition is not an option. 2TB is currently the largest SSD available for a decent price. (In addition I have 4 TB non SSD discs for samples and projects. They are also filled more than 50%).

I recently tried upgrade from CB 8 to 8,5 and experienced the need of a reliable extra system disc.

I can also mention that I have 16TB back up. 10 for Time Machine and 6 for manual cloning. And in addition to that the mentioned separate system disc that I know works. I guess I am a kind of “both suspenders and belt” kind of guy.
