Has anyone successfully opened Cubase 5 files on the new Cubase 13? How about a little further back, SX3?
What are the odds I can open these old files in 2023? I’m mainly hoping to access the Midi tracks.

That should be possible.
No reason why not , i’ve migrated plenty of Sx3 CPR projects over to C12 so you should be perfectly fine
Many thanks. Was it as simple as opening the project, or are there likely considerations/obstacles? I’m just debating a purchase of 13, after using Logic for several years and unable to open old Cubase projects.

You just open them.
Only vst instruments missing and certain plugins , all audio and midi tracks line up as expected
