I have my videofile synced to audio i Nuendo. I have replaced audio in video as the manual suggest but I do not understand how to get a new videofile with the recorded audio from Nuendo. I do a audio mixdown, and have the audiotrack and the videotrack but separated. How do I save a new videocopy with the audio recorded in nuendo?

As far as I know this is not possible yet and everybody is waiting for this function. But it’s on the roadmap from what we’ve heard. Since Apple discontinued QuickTime, Steinberg is working on their own video engine which will be capable of this. We just have to wait. It’s currently planned for this year if everything goes according to plan.
It’s not done the same way as in pro tools. You need two copies of files “outside” of the application, a video file and the mix. So I take my video file that already has audio in it and duplicate it. Then you replace audio in video by choosing those two files. I guess that doesn’t help if you want to add audio directly to an empty file though…

I occasionally need to ask one of my editors do do it in MC or Premier. They are usually ticked off and not so cooperative.
Or I need to result using the QT Pro workaround, which I find an unnecessarily old fashioned extra step.

But Nuendo IS for film??? What are the pros doing when making score for film/movie?? I thought this program would manage tasks like this. The manual is telling you how to do, at least I thought so…
So if I want to make a simple video with me and band playing I have to use another program and import the audiofile I have recorded in nuendo? I find it pretty difficult to sync audio/film, In Nuendo I have the original soundfile that was recorded with the film to match the Nuendo recording…

Nuendo is for Audio Post. I.e. syncing audio to (pre-edited) video.
What you are looking for is an application to edit your video & (mayby) audio.

Quicktime 7 is dead on Windows and will be dead this autumn in OS X when apple get’s on pro users nerves with the next iteration of it’s OS.

I wrote my reply and then realized that maybe my suggestion or comment wasn’t really addressing what the question was. But at any rate, “Replace Audio in Video File” was what I was referring to.

Välj Export Audio Mixdown i Nuendo så att du dessutom har en stereo fil av din mix, och du bör kanske också spara både video-kopian samt ljudfilen i en ny folder. Välj sedan “Replace Audio In Video File” i Nuendo, och navigera till både bild- och ljud-filer.
För att det skall fungera måste (den nya) ljudfilen vara samma längd som videon. Om jag fattat allt rätt bör det fungera.
Eller var det video-editering du var ute efter?
I’d say that with a modern computer a free full-blown NLE might be a reasonable option. I would look into Blackmagic Design’s “Davinci Resolve” (free) to do this sort of work. Should be fine for editing video, importing audio, and exporting the final. Limitations in the free version are found in the “high end” of functionality, like 3D stereoscopic and ultra-HD resolutions. For quick edits and merging of audio/video of HD material it should probably be fine.
Or am I still missing what people want to achieve here?

Yes, but when you have synced audio and video you mean that there is no way to embed those two into one file containing both video and audio.? In my very simple programs like Microsofts Movie maker or Mac Imovie there is both sound and picture in sync but with crappy sound. How does a proffessional film work? It must have audio and movie on same media? Or? I thought the function “replace audio in videofile” would do just that, exchange the crappy originalsound to my excellent… nuendorecording?

Hej, skönt med Svenska, jag tycker det är svårt att uttrycka mina frågor vettigt på Engelska…Nej inte videoeditering, bara synca ljud från nuendo och spara en nu kopia av film med bra ljud… Hur och varför skall jag duplicera videofilen igen?
Jag importerar filmen till Nuendo med rutan ikryssad för “separera audio” så originalspåret hamnar per automatik under själva filmspåret. Jag använder detta som mall för att synca nuendoinspelningen, raderar sen det extraherade originalljudet och avslutar med audio mixdown. Resultatet är… Ett filmspår och ett ljudspår… Jag vill ju bädda in/ byta ut det risiga original ljudet mot det bättre och spara som en film MED ljud. Som det blir nu måste jag importera det hela tillbaka till Movie maker och ändå försöka synca ljudet…så jag fattar fortfarande inte

Se på det hela som två olika delar:
Del 1: Precis som du gjort hittills (min svenska är skräp nuförtiden, så ursäkta felstavningar) importerar du video samt ljudspåret från videon. Du jobbar precis som du vill med mixning, mastering och sync och exporterar sedan en ny ljudfil. Den ljudfilen bör vara exakt samma längd och ha samma start some video I Nuendo. Det räcker alltså inte med att du har ett spår som är färdigt i Nuendo, du måste skapa en fil i en folder på din hårddisk.
1. File menu
2. Audio
3. Export
4. Audio Mixdown
Välj parametrar och folder givetvis. Du behöver alltså inte importera den här ljudfilen eller lägga den på ett spår. Den kan ligga kvar i en folder. Så låt säga att du har en låt som heter “Suecia”, i en folder med samma namn i vilken du har din “Suecia.npr” samt “Audio Files” etc. Skapa en ny folder där med namnet “Suecia ny video”. Exportera ljudfilen dit.
Del 2: Anledning till att jag rekommenderade att du duplicerar videofilen är att om något blir fel så har du orginalet kvar. När Nuendo gör sitt “Replace Audio in video file” så ändras den videofil du pekar på. Med andra ord så blir det fel så kan du skrota kopian och använda en ny kopia av orginalet istället. Så, fortsättningsvis:
**5. Kopiera din video fil till “Suecia ny video” (i “Suecia”-foldern)
6. I Nuendo, välj File menu
7. Replace Audio In Video File
Om allt går väl skall kopian i “Suecia ny video” ha fått sitt ljudspår ersatt av din nya mix/fil… Jag tror att Nuendo i bland inte funkar som det skall, men om det funkar är det så det går till om jag minns rätt. Jag kan testa imorgon (jag är i New York, så det är väl “idag” för dig redan
